- Santorum Statement in the No Child Left Behind Act Conference
Report
Federal education policy as expressed by the U.S. Congress favors teaching students the scientific controversy over biological evolution. Support for this fair-minded approach to science education is clearly expressed in the "Santorum Statement" adopted by Congress in 2001 as part of the Conference Report of the No Child Left Behind Act. - Some advocates of a Darwin-only approach to science education have
incorrectly tried to dismiss the Santorum statement, claiming that
supporters of the Santorum statement are misleading the public.
- Discovery Institute offers resources on the Santorum Statement, including the film Icons of Evolution. Based on the best-selling book by cell biologist Jonathan Wells, this documentary examines the state of science education in the public school classroom and textbooks.
